Sony to convert online bookstore to open format.

The BBC reports that Sony is to convert its online bookstore to the EPUB format. While this format still allows DRM, it's supported on a much wider variety of readers. It's nice to see Sony opening up to the idea of open standards. It would be interesting to see more bookstores supporting ePub format, though DRM protection is  still a big issue towards complete open standards, but given the fact that Adobe DRM protection mechanism is already broken, book lovers can use software like Talking Clipboard to listen to the eBook, or convert it to MP3 for their iPods.
